Discovering a Dynamic Balance

If the people of God are no different from the world out there then something seriously wrong, however, if God’s people separate themselves from the world and live a ghetto kind of existence, there is also something incredibly wrong. We are called to be in the world without being of the world. Now that is a challenge! The reality is that God’s people have rarely found this challenge easy, and the tendency has been to swing from one polarity to the other without finding a dynamic balance. We will only discover this balance in organic life-giving faith communities that are missionally focused beyond themselves. Such communities are not easy to find and very costly to develop for they demand and require a radical restructuring of one's lifestyle and life commitments.
