We all make mistakes. Mistakes are an inevitable part of life. The important thing is how we respond when we make them, and what we learn from them. First, we must take ownership of our mistakes, rather than refrain from responsibility for them. This may be painful and embarrassing, but it is by taking responsibility for them that we grow and move beyond them. If we fail to do so, then we will accumulate baggage that will continue to haunt us until finally take responsibility and put things right with those that we have hurt or failed. Second, we should evaluate the reasons or causes that lead to us making a mistake. We should ask: What we could have done to avoid making a mistake? How should we handle a similar situation in the future? What have we learned about our self, and our strengths and weaknesses? By evaluating the matter in this way, we open our self up to growth in character and strengthen our faith and resolve in the process.
